Take a tour of “The Old Jameson Distillery” where all tours commence with an audio-visual presentation telling the enchanting and interesting story of whiskey in Ireland.

Guests are then guided through the old distillery where they’ll see the old kilns, the mills, the maltings, the old water wheel, the still house, the distillers cottage, the cooperage and the old warehouses, all in pristine condition at this wonderful visitor attraction.

 

Jameson – Part Of East Cork’s Heritage

The sense of heritage is everywhere at The Jameson Experience. jameson distillery east cork tourThe original buildings were used as a mill and date back to 1795. Later, they were converted for use as a distillery.

One of the original steam engines which was installed in the latter half of the 19th century is on display in the Mill building where you’ll see the cogs and wheels turning just as they did all those years ago.

Those cogs and wheels are turned by the old water wheel which still turns today.

Jameson Tour Highlight

jameson east cork tourThe Still House is definitely one of the tours highlights where you’ll see the three original pot stills shining brightly as if they were made from gold. The largest of these pot still can hold a whopping 141,000 litres or 31,000 gallons which actually makes it the largest pot still in the whole world..

Visitors are then taken to the cooperage where coopers used to make and fix the wooden casks that the whiskey used to be stored in. Visitors are then shown a recreated warehouse where your guide will explain why a whiskey goes through a maturing process and how that happens.

Jameson Tastings

The tour ends with a complimentary glass of Jameson. There are a lucky few from each tour are offered a comparative whiskey tasting where you’ll sample Irish, Scotch and Bourbon whiskies. You’ll also be rewarded with your own Whiskey Tasting Certificate.
